Fitness Find #1 – Target Achieved
My Pekingese loves anything gym related, or maybe anything sweaty. She recently ate my husband Chris’s
gym bag – and by ate I don’t mean "Oh let me nibble on this a bit, I miss daddy" I mean full out are through the whole darn thing. She also has a penchant for Marshmallow and Skull Candy ear phones. She has eaten about 4 pair of mine in the last 2 months. I’m not one to leave them lying about, they usually are in my bag, on the table or chair (something that is over her head). Once, sadly they were still attached to my iPod, which she also noshed on. Sports bras are her new favorite.
Moving on, I am missing one of my weight training gloves. Something I used to swear off – I mean are they really necessary? Yes, yes they are. Especially if you don’t want calluses or pinched skin, plus I think it helps block some of the germs on the free weights. The last week has had me lowering my lifting amounts for two reasons 1) if I try to lift at my old numbers I get short of breath and dizzy (only 3 weeks left now) 2) my skin on my hands hurts without my gloves. So to rectify the masticated bag and my missing glove – we stopped at Target. Bonus! They had a bag for Chris $24.99 and some gloves for me $9.99. They are non-leather, so you can wear and wash (great for vegans) – soft at the finger openings – sometimes they aren’t and I get small cuts or burns from the friction. I think they are men’s because the women’s were pink and grey and a lightweight – figures they would assume women want pink and aren’t serious about lifting. My husband buys some heavy duty gloves that have wrist wraps attached and serious ball mount joint pads (since he slit his wrist open with the tile cutter and had a bad stitch job they help) I have yet to find women’s gloves with this. Again though I have to admit – I don’t bench over 300 lbs like he does so I probably don’t need all of that.
