Naked Yoga - Yes, Naked but Men Only -huh?
I like to haunt Craigslist for all kinds of things. I once contemplated listing my doula services under Therapeutic but while at a teacher training a massage therapist related to me a story of starting out and trying to get business on CL. She had posted for prenatal massage and received a call from a man who wanted a "prenatal massage". She explained it was only for women, did he understand what prenatal meant, and did he want to set it up for his partner. No, he wanted it for himself - a "prenatal massage". She emphasized the way he kept saying prenatal as something sexual.
Well, every once in a while I check out the Therapeutic section - it is mostly escort services and women trying to sound as though they are not sex workers (granted I think everyone has a right to do what they want for a living and I would prefer they pay taxes and undergo mandatory testing for HIV/STDs like some areas require). So tonight I found this interesting ad for Naked Yoga. I thought surely this has to be a way to see women naked - but no - this is a men’s only group - what about a women’s only group! BASIC INFORMATION
Bare Essentials Yoga/Naked Yoga Chicago is a private member’s group for men interested in the practice of yoga without the restrictions of clothing. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for male spiritual community and holistic social interaction between supportive and centered individuals. We strive to create an atmosphere of mutual trust, body-acceptance, and a comprehensive return to the senses. While nudity is an intrinsic part of most sessions, our group is not designed/intended to create a sexual venue or to specifically create erotic energy. We encourage our members to come home to all aspects of their being-erotic or otherwise-while practicing yoga. We practice this by watching the flow of energy in our bodies & minds rather than reacting or responding. We affirm male erotic energy and the conscious engagement of that energy; however we believe there is an appropriate time & place for erotic energy exchange. As teachers of the discipline of yoga, we pledge that we would avoid any intentional touch that tacitly directs, increases, or stimulates erotic energy for either our students or ourselves. We are not exclusive to men of any particular sexual orientation- all adult men are welcome to join us. You don’t have to have a perfect body to join our sessions, or experience in yoga (in most classes), however, you should be in reasonably good health. If necessary, we encourage you to seek the guidance of a qualified medical professional if you are unsure about attending a yoga program.

$ 220 for 20 class series The Yogiraj Series
* Package series are not a requirement of participation but must be used within 6 months of the calendar year of the original purchase. The packaged sessions need not be used consecutively or on the same class day, however the advanced registration for all sessions is still a requirement for attendance (see below for details).

Sunday- Basic Beginners Hatha 1:30- 3PM
