39 Weeks and I am Drowning

My midwife and her labor partner just left after a 2 hour meeting.  All of the pain I have been having (which I thought was in my cervix) is real labor – not Braxton Hicks – seems like my body is acting like an efficient little machine. Sadly though, the 5 hours spent last night setting up an Etsy Account, Blogging, etc. took their toll on my body.  I knew when I went in the bath and my son said, "Mommy why are your legs sooooo big" that I was in trouble and there was no way to get them down before our meeting this morning. I am almost drowning in my own fluids (completely sanitary ones so don’t worry).

Also, the pain in the sides I have been having is excess water, same with the little bubble underneath my navel area – I am retaining a bit much – good and bad news in my eyes.

Good because it means some of the weight gain in the last month can be attributed to water – and a lot of it by her guess – also good because she was unable to move the baby’s head (it is engaged) and once I get rid of this water she thinks I will go into labor.

Bad because it taxes the kidneys, it is stalling labor, and it is painful.

BP was 104/79 – high for me, but still good because she says your BP goes up a little as you get close to due date. FHR was 132 (strong little baby) with a fundal height of 38.  So I guess I am ready to pop soon, we will see. I can’t wait to get back to working out – I have some new revamped goals both personally and professionally as a fitness worker.
