Don’t Create Waste – Recycle Old Yoga Mats

image Gaiam had some wonderful ideas submitted by others on what to do with your old yoga mats. Don’t just throw them away, find something else useful for them – this is truly living your yoga.  Click on the list to redirect to Gaiam’s website for 50 Uses for Old Yoga Mats.

Remember, you can clean your yoga mats in the washing machine with a little bit of soap (that is what makes the mats sticky) and air dry, or wrap between a towel and squeeze excess water out.

Daily cleaning with water, tea tree oil and a sponge is far cheaper than buying wasteful wipes.  Add any essential oil you like to make your mat smell delicious, just don’t add more than a few drops or you will have a slick mat.

Thanks for sharing this great list! I will take my old yoga mat to our local animal shelter…

What a great choice, I love supporting animal shelters. I used to volunteer as a dog walker with a friend of mine and for a year and a half I was a foster home for many wonderful adoptable dogs.
