Two-Day Workshop with Dr. Frank Wildman

Dr. Frank Wildman is the founder of the Movement Studies Institute, a pioneering advocate for the Feldenkrais Method ® and a renowned Author, Speaker and Educator.  His new book, Change Your Age: The Revolutionary Program Using Your Body and Brain to Feel Younger, Stronger, and More Fit, was published in April.   Dr. Wildman will be conducting a two-day Change Your Age workshop on July 23 and 24 as part of the 2010 Feldenkrais Method Annual Conference at Loyola University of Chicago.

In an era when people are living longer, Dr Frank Wildman encourages us to live better – without injury or pain – and reminds us that age is just a number.

From his early days as a young choreographer and performer with the San Francisco-based Anna Halprin dance troupe, his life-changing meeting with Dr Moshe Feldenkrais, the founder of the Feldenkrais Method®, then the foundation of the Movement Studies Institute in 1985, Dr Wildman has devoted 40 years of his life to the study of movement, and the Feldenkrais Method® in particular.   He has been a teacher, practitioner, and mentor to countless medical professionals, athletes, fitness experts, musicians, dancers, and he has worked extensively with an aging population.  Dr. Wildman’s pioneering work has led to advances in physical therapy that have been adopted internationally by hospitals, universities, physical and occupational therapists, and somatic psychologists.

Dr Wildman’s new book Change Your Age, published by Da Capa Press urges readers to rediscover their bodies’ youthful vigor by sharpening their awareness of how they move.  The timely book includes several mind-body assessment tools and over 30 illustrated movement lessons, sequenced to the five core positions of lying down, sitting, kneeling, crouching, and standing.

The Change Your Age program is based on the principles of the Feldenkrais Method, developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, a physicist, engineer and Judo Master who taught himself to walk again after suffering a crippling knee injury.  Dr Wildman is also the author of ‘The Busy Person’s Guide to Easier Movement.’
